Orbit

This is my most recent 3D illustration. The theme was Space Childrens book. This is a graphic novel about a chubby dog named Orbit who jumped a little too high one day and was sent into orbit... Oh the Irony. Everything was modeled and textured in Maya with a few extra touches in Photoshop.

Under Construction

So I have started making the move from CwayneT to CwThornbrugh. It's a slightly longer name but I think it's a good move. So I'm going to try to start updating my facebook status when I do a new blog post via Twitter.
So welcome to my new home.

Miniature Shifting

Here is a photo I took after being inspired by a couple really cool videos and the encouragement of a professor. The picture is supposed to look like a picture of a miniature set, but in fact it's a normal size chair and room. The method is called tilt shift, and here is the link to one of the vids that inspired me. http://www.vimeo.com/1831024

Try to shade your surface and see what you get

So this evening I have been working on some new animation techniques and I got super frustrated. I did 22 tutorials that should have made my animating career easier, but I have spent hours and hours trying to get it to work out properly and haven't gotten very far. So to relieve my stress so that I feel like I've accomplished something in the past 9 hours I took a break from animating and tested out a rendering aesthetic I had been wanting to try. The image above is in fact the rendering technique. My professor showed a video to my class a week or so ago and it had a similar look and thats where I got the idea.
So I guess when I get frustrated trying out something new I try out something else new, go figure. Click for a bigger version if you please.
